Learn how to get the most out of glaze with a full day of outdoor firing! Choose to build, throw or sculpt your pieces at home or during our Open Studio Hours, bring them to Amaranth for bisque firing and glaze in our studio!

Space is limited to 8 Pyromaniacs plus leading potters and 3 pieces per student.

Includes: 10lbs of raku clay, one drop in studio pass, raku glazes & bisque firing of 3 pieces. And a full day of Raku firing, of course!

Recommended: Some experience making and forming with clay. No firing experience necessary. Due to the firing process, chemicals in the metallic glazes and close proximity you will be to the kilns we do recommend bringing a respirator. Our studio does have some N94 masks on hand, but if you have a respirator please bring it as it will provide you more safety. We recommend dressing in layers as it may be a super warm day! Please make sure to wear/bring pants and a long sleeve shirt. We recommend your shirt not have long flowy sleeves.

Schedule

Step 1: Make stuff!
You can pick up your clay at anytime to work at home or use in our studio during Open Studio Hours. Visit our studio for inspiration! We have Raku books, glaze samples and lots of advice. Pieces must be completed and ready to be bisque fired for Monday May 1st if firing May 13th

Monday May 15th if firing May 27th

(please have them dry and ready to load when dropping off)

Step 2: Glaze stuff!
A mandatory glaze day will be held in our studio on:

Friday May 12th from 10-4pm if firing May 13th

Friday May 26th from 10-4pm if firing May 27th

Drop in anytime to glaze! We recommend giving yourself 2-3 hours to glaze everything. We will have a variety of glazes available to work with. If you are unable to make it during this time slot, please let us know so we may offer an alternative for you! An instructor will not be on site for glazing, just the glazes provided with samples for you to play with prior to the firing day!

Step 3: Set it ablaze!
The party begins Saturday at 10am and can go as late as 4pm. We recommend dressing in layers as it may be a super warm day! Please make sure to wear/bring pants and a long sleeve shirt. We recommend your shirt not have long flowy sleeves.
