NEW WORKSHOP! Clay Curious: Handbuilding 101

What to Expect:

What's Included?

• Clay slab (approx. 2 lbs per person)
• Access to tools and underglaze paints
• Aprons (or bring your own!)
• Guidance from our Instructor
• Bisque and glaze firings (done by Amaranth staff)
  
• All pieces are finished with a clear gloss glaze (food safe!)
• Pieces are ready for pickup in approximately 2-4 weeks

Other Information:

• • Sign up online, over the phone or by visiting the studio. 
  • A total of 9 spots available. We require a minimum of 6 students to run a class. You will be notified by email if a class is being rescheduled. Pst, we do private bookings too!
  • Day of: Dress for mess! We recommend wearing clothes you can get muddy in.
  • Trim your nails and tie back your hair- trust us, you'll thank us later.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes early. We promise we're friendly and there's lots to see in our studio! You may even be welcomed in by our sweet furry greeters- Boo & Frankie.
    
  • Cleanup is a shared activity. Everyone helps clean their workspace :)!

Picking up your Pottery:

• We will email students when the pieces are ready for pick up and post it online, here: 'Are my Pots Ready?'
• Due to limited space in our studio, your pieces will be put up for adoption 1 month after they're ready for pick-up. Contact us if you would like to inquire about shipping.

We want you and everyone else in the class to have a swell time! So here are our class policies, designed with everyone's best interests in mind:

• Respect everyone in the class. We all have our strengths & weaknesses, so lets be supportive and kind to one another.
• You are expected to clean up your own mud mess as best as possible within your station. Check out this youtube video.
• Classes start at the time given, so please arrive early enough to get yourself settled in. We recommend 10 minutes.
• If we cancel a class or workshop due to illness or weather, we will do our best to accommodate everyone when we reschedule.
• If you cancel your participation 5 days or more before the first class starts, 100% credit goes towards a future course at Amaranth Stoneware. Cancelled with less than 5 days notice: If we are able to replace your spot in the class, then you'll get a credit towards a future class at Amaranth Stoneware. If we are not able to fill your spot, then you forfeit your payment. We suggest sending a friend instead!
• If you do not show up to the class you have registered for we cannot provide a refund or alternative class for you.
• Full payment must be made before the first class begins.
• Class & Workshop registration is non-refundable but we are happy to offer you class credit to put towards a future date or towards supplies or pottery in the store.
• Classes are for those 12+ years old.
• Classes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling if the minimum number of students is not met. If cancelled due to low participation, a full refund will be offered.
• We will contact everyone via email or phone once pottery is fired and ready for pickup. We also post to our Are My Pots Ready Page on our website when pieces are unloaded from the kiln. Any pieces not picked up for over 1 month after their final firing will be up for adoption.
• Your own clay and tools MUST be taken home with you at the end of your class. Clay and tools left behind after your last class are donated / put up for adoption.
• Lastly: relax, have fun, and GET MUDDY!

Pieces from a workshop are ready in 3-6 weeks and from a multiweek class in 1-3 weeks from your glaze night. Students are contacted by the registration email when pieces are ready. Please visit our Are my Pots Ready Pickup Page if you're unsure if your pieces are out of the kiln!
