A supplemental source of magnesium oxide for glazes. Magnesium Carbonate imparts strength and color, with very little shrinkage. In larger quantities, magnesium carbonate produces a dry, opaque surface in glazes. An excess can cause crawling. This can be useful to produce intentional beading when used on top of a well-bonded base glaze.
