We're thrilled to introduce you to the pottery wheel!

Try the wheel with no commitment! Come in and GET MUDDY! Take a spin on a pottery wheel and see how you like it! No license necessary.

The workshop is lead by an instructor who will help centre the clay and teach you tips & tricks. Make a bowl, tumbler or vase! Everyone has the opportunity to throw multiple pieces and you will be able to select 3 pieces to have fully finished by our team. Go with the flow of the clay, get muddy and enjoy the experience of throwing on a potter's wheel!

This workshop is focused on the experience, not your final pieces. All potters start as a beginner and often we don't see the stack of failed pots behind all the perfect ones we see at markets or studios. Be kind to yourself and others and focus on the fun experience of throwing with clay!

A reservation must be made to book a spot. Maximum class size is 8.

Our class includes: clay, tools, glaze, firing & instruction. All you have to bring is your creativity!

Schedule
Studio Space
We will begin with a demonstration on how to throw on the potter's wheel, then we'll get right to it! Throwing can be a bit hard at first, so go with the flow of the clay and enjoy the experience of getting behind a potter's wheel! Students are responsible for clean-up at end of class.

Glaze
Students will have a choice from 3 glazes to pick for their creations. Our staff will glaze your pieces and have them ready for pickup in roughly 3-4 weeks.

Class Policy

We want you and everyone else in the class to have a swell time! So here are our class policies, designed with everyone's best interests in mind:

Respect everyone in the class. We all have our strengths & weaknesses, so lets be supportive and kind to one another.
You are expected to clean up your own mud mess as best as possible within your station. Check out this youtube video.
Classes start at the time given, so please arrive early enough to get yourself settled in. We recommend 10 minutes.
If we cancel a class or workshop due to illness or weather, we will do our best to accommodate everyone when we reschedule.
If you cancel your participation 5 days or more before the first class starts, 100% credit goes towards a future course at Amaranth Stoneware. Cancelled with less than 5 days notice: If we are able to replace your spot in the class, then you'll get a credit towards a future class at Amaranth Stoneware. If we are not able to fill your spot, then you forfeit your payment. We suggest sending a friend instead!
If you do not show up to the class you have registered for we cannot provide a refund or alternative class for you.
Full payment must be made before the first class begins.
Class & Workshop registration is non-refundable but we are happy to offer you class credit to put towards a future date or towards supplies or pottery in the store.
Classes are for those 12+ years old.
Classes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling if the minimum number of students is not met. If cancelled due to low participation, a full refund will be offered.
We will contact everyone via email or phone once pottery is fired and ready for pickup. We also post to our Are My Pots Ready Page on our website when pieces are unloaded from the kiln. Any pieces not picked up for over 1 month after their final firing will be up for adoption.
Your own clay and tools MUST be taken home with you at the end of your class. Clay and tools left behind after your last class are donated / put up for adoption.
