Located in Kingston, Ontario, The Garden Studio is where artisan Linda brings her unique creations to life. From quirky mugs to elegant stained glass, watercolours, silk paintings, and whimsical garden art, Linda's studio offers a delightful blend of artistic diversity.
Discovering Clay: From Watercolours to Pottery
Linda's journey into pottery began unexpectedly during a visit to an art centre in Florida. Initially looking for oil paintings, she stumbled upon a pottery wheel and decided to give it a spin. With no prior experience in pottery, her background in watercolours and basket weaving provided a fresh perspective. Back in Kingston, she continued her exploration at Amaranth Stoneware, where her passion for pottery truly flourished.
The Studio: Where Creativity Blooms
Linda's studio is a cosy sanctuary filled with laughter and excitement. Pots, rollers, mugs (peep the penguin!) and a variety of glazes line the shelves, overlooking a beautiful garden that serves as both inspiration and refuge.
Favourite and Challenging Aspects of Pottery
For Linda, the joy of pottery lies in the act of creation itself. However, working with glazes remains her least favourite task, despite the stunning results they achieve.
A Day in Linda's Creative Routine
For Linda, every day in the studio brings new discoveries and challenges. Amidst the giggles and focused work sessions, she occasionally loses track of time, forgetting even to eat lunch (her husband reminds her to grab a bite!)
Tools of the Trade
Linda’s must-have tools are the harp wire and mudtools ribs for shaping and smoothing. These simple tools play a crucial role in bringing her imaginative designs to life.
